How to get your bank file

Batzen reads the transaction file you download from your bank's online banking: CSV or CAMT (XML). It's easiest in a web browser on your computer.

  1. Sign in to your bank's online banking.
  2. Open your account's transactions and choose the period, for example the last 12 months.
  3. Look for "Export" or "CSV" (in German banking: „Exportieren“) and save the file.
  4. Drag the file into the Batzen window, or choose File › Import… in Batzen.

Many banks only show a limited period, so export regularly; Batzen skips bookings it already has.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get a refund?

Refunds go through Apple: reportaproblem.apple.com. I don't see any payment data myself.

I bought the full version, but Batzen isn't unlocked.

In Batzen's settings, open the full version section and restore your purchase. If that doesn't help, write to support@getbatzen.app or report the purchase to Apple: reportaproblem.apple.com.

How do I delete my data?
  • Batzen keeps everything in the app's protected area on your Mac, plus up to 10 automatic backups. The data stays there until you delete it.
  • To delete: in Batzen, choose File › Delete Everything… or Settings › Data › Delete Everything…. This removes accounts, bookings, rules, budgets, questions and backups.
  • Important: Moving Batzen to the Trash leaves the data on your Mac. Delete it in Batzen first, or afterwards delete the folder ~/Library/Containers/de.batzen.app in the Finder.
  • Files you export stay where you save them. Batzen doesn't delete them.
What do I need?

A Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later) and macOS 26 Tahoe or later. For AI categories and questions in your own words, Apple Intelligence must be turned on. Without it, import, rules, overview, budgets, subscriptions and the building blocks for questions still work.

Does Batzen connect to my bank account?

No. You download the file yourself in online banking. That's intentional: this way nobody gets access to your account.
